Harnett County Commissioners met Tuesday to discuss plans for a county park in the Lillington area.

Parks and Rec Director Carl Davis met with the board to discuss plans for the new park, which the department began work on last year.

There’s going to be a rumble this weekend at the pulling track inside Four Oaks Farm Park.

Beginning this evening at 7, the park will host a lawn tractor and modified mini tractor pull. Dozens of participants will compete to see who can move aheavy sled the greatest distance.

Graham Henry was a man people will remember as a walking library and history book about Dunn’s past. That knowledge is now gone after Mr. Henry passed away this week leaving an empty hole in the community.

Mr. Henry died Tuesday night at UNC-Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

South Johnston made quick work of visiting Two Rivers 3-A Conference opponent Smithfield-Selma in a pair of five-inning baseball and softball wins on senior night Wednesday.

On the softball diamond, South Johnston overcame some early nerves to win 18-1 and remain in contention for the conference championship.

Harnett Central shot 177, Coats-Erwin came in at 192 and Dunn totaled 233.
