From CU Media Services Nick Greely, a 6-foot-7 forward from Fairmont, W.Va., has signed an athletics grant-in-aid with Campbell, men’s basketball coach Kevin McGeehan has announced. He is the sixth and last player in the incoming class.

Greely joins the Fighting Camels after earning all-state honors while leading Bridgeport High School to the West Virginia 2-A state semifinals.

Greely averaged 21.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and three blocks per game, while shooting 74 percent ...

Michael Snyder Jr. of Buies Creek won the Tarheel Youth Golf Association 8-9 division in the Tots tournament at Keith Hills on Sunday.

He shot 31 in the Stableford points system.

Snyder has two firsts and a second in TYGA events this year. He has developed in the junior golf program directed by Ryan Dailey.

In the 10-11 boys division, Parker Denning of Benson was first with 30 points and Logan Atkins of Dunn was fourth with 21 points.

Twenty-five years ago, more than 600,000 service members took part in Operation Desert Storm, at the time the largest deployment of U.S. Armed Forces since Vietnam.

Marcus Johnson, then an Airman from Dunn, was one of those who left friends and family behind to serve the United States. Mr. Johnson is a 1990 graduate of Triton High School.
