The parade will be a night-time lighted Christmas parade Monday at 7 p.m. The Erwin Area Chamber of Commerce asks that there will be no horses or horse-drawn buggies in the parade.

Jackie Lee has been appointed by State Supreme Court Judge Mark Martin to serve as Chief District Court judge. for the 11th Judicial District comprised of Harnett, Johnston and Sampson counties. She will replace Judge Andy Corbett, who has reached the mandatory retirement age of 72 and will retire at the end of this year.

The opening round of the girls’ Harnett County Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Campbell University, Monday saw defending champion Overhills and Harnett Central advancing to the championshipround. Tonight’s championship game at 6 p.m. between the Jaguars (30) and Trojans (1-2) will be the third straight time the two have met in the title round. Overhills won it last year and Central won in 2012.
