Newton Grove Pair Arrested In Sting

A Newton Grove man and woman were among a group of suspects taken into custody on drug charges last week.

According to Sampson County Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith, Shykeim Jevone Bennett, 20, and Anna Rogers, 21, were arrested on July 14 following a yearlong undercover operation by the Sampson County Special Investigations Division.

Mr. Bennett was charged with 13 felonies stemming from the investigation. He was charged with two counts of selling marijuana, two counts of delivering marijuana, two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, four counts of conspiring to sell or deliver marijuana, one count of selling a schedule IV controlled substance, conspiring to sell or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance and possession with intent to sell or distribute a schedule IV controlled substance.

He is being held in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Ms. Rogers was charged with two counts of conspiring to sell or deliver marijuana, one count of delivering marijuana and one count of selling marijuana.

Her secured bond was set at $50,000.

Also charged in the investigation with various drug offenses were Yolanda Jones, 47, Tiffany Hicks, 24, Kelvin Gooden, 22, Demetrius Wilson, 26, James Marshburn, 21, Lindsay Howard, 31, Antonio Howard, 32, Raul Acosta, 33, Brenda Brunson, 21, Gary Ashley, 24, Tyrone Chevalier, 38, Mitchell McNeil, 38, Ronie Eason, 50, Michael Ray Parker, 33, and Eugenia Tew, 50, all of Clinton.

Others charged with drug offenses included Shide Underwood, 24, of Roseboro and Shelton Williams, 29 of Salemburg.
