Jimmy Lee Dennis, 65, of Lillington died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lillington after a long struggle with kidney disease and cancer.
He was born in Harnett County, son of the late Wright and Fannie O’Quinn Dennis. He was the baby of 13 children. Mr. Dennis worked as an electrician for most of his life until becoming disabled. He enjoyed cutting grass, gardening and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by brothers, Baby George Dennis, Wayne Dennis, Wright Dennis Jr. and George William Dennis; sisters, Margaret White, Ellon Upchurch, Eyvone Womack and Lula Mae Dennis; and son-in-law, Wesley Gunter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with the Rev. Dan Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. and other times at the home.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dennis; daughters, Doris Gunter of Broadway, Amanda Griffis and husband Derrick of Sanford; sisters, Anita Dezso of Lillington and Jewel Damon of Sanford; brothers, Clyde Dennis and wife Henrietta of Lillington, Ralph Dennis and wife Hilda of Lillington; and many nieces and nephews.
