Bentonville Park Day Recheduled For April 28

Volunteers needed for clean-up event.

Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site’s Park Day event, originally planned for Saturday, has been rescheduled for April 28 at 9 a.m.

On this date, history buffs, community leaders, and preservationists will aid in the maintenance and restoration of numerous sites as part of Park Day, the Civil War Trust’s annual hands-on preservation event. Thousands of volunteers across the country will participate as Park Day celebrates its largest year ever with over 155 historic sites in 32 states.

At the Four Oaks historic site, the primary task for volunteers will be the expansion of Bentonville’s Morris Farm trail but other volunteer opportunities may also be possible. Hand tools such as loppers and rakes are encouraged but power equipment like chainsaws are prohibited. Historians will also be available to describe the historic site’s significance.

For more information about Park Day at Bentonville Battlefield, contact Amanda Brantley at 910-594-0789, ext. 203 or amanda.

Volunteers will meet at the Visitors Center, 5466 Harper House Road, Four Oaks.
