Central, Overhills Split Contests On Road

Harnett Central’s varsity basketball teams played their first games in the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference at Southern Lee on Wednesday night, splitting with the Cavaliers.

Central’s girls took a 57-22 win to improve to 11-2 overall. Maliah Banks had 17 points to lead the scoring for the Lady Trojans. Banks had eight assists. Jordyn Johnson-McLean had 10 points for Central. Syniah McMiller had nine points and blocked nine shots.

Central’s boys took a 55-48 loss despite 15 points from Jalaan Signal and 12 from Kaizer Ray. Central slipped to 8-5 on the season.

McLean Leads As Jaguar Boys Prevail

Zavian McLean had 30 points as the Overhills boys won 68-61 at E.E. Smith improving to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the Patriot 4-A/3-A Conference. Smith won the girls game, 81-48.
