Christopher Arnold Stancil, 48, of Healy, Alaska, formerly of Coats, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Alaska.
He was born in Harnett County on Oct. 28, 1968, son of Willard Arnold and Janice Gainey Stancil. Mr. Stancil was a water treatment specialist for Denali National Park in Alaska. He achieved the honor of Eagle Scout as a young man and served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard for 12 years. He spent two years is Iraq prior to relocating to Alaska.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Arnold and Janice Stancil, 2238 Clayhole Road, Coats. A private interment will follow at a later date.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his daughter, Kristin Stancil of Philadelphia, Pa.; and brother, Martin Stancil and wife Stephanie of Newton Grove.
The family will receive friends for a time of gathering immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to your local Salvation Army or ASPCA Chapter.
