• Parade steps off at 6:30 p.m.
The Town of Coats will celebrate the season with its annual Christmas parade along with Christmas on Main Street this Thursday.
Thursday activities begin at 5 p.m. with Christmas on Main Street followed by the Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. The line-up for the parade will take place on Carrie Street at 6 p.m.
“Everyone is invited to come out and take part in our evening of celebrating the holidays. This is the first time that we are having Christmas on Main Street and we invite everyone to come out and have fun. It is going to be cold, so bundle up,” said Pat Godwin, Coats Chamber executive director. During Christmas on Main Street there will be entertainment, children’s activities and
vendors. The grand marshal for the parade will be Mayor Walter Weeks and his wife, Kathy, along with special guest, WRALTV news anchor Ken Smith. Triton High School Marching Band will also take part in the parade. Other entries will include Alicia’s Dance Studio, Carolina Boat & Yacht Brothers, Kiwanis of Coats, K-Kids, the Sudan Clowns and Sudan Racers.
During the visit with Santa, cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
Immediately following the parade, the Santa house will open at 7:30 p.m. at the General Store located on Main Street, next to the Cornerstone Cafe.
