Edith Elmore, chairman of the Beautification and Image Committee for the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce, announced plans for a citywide cleanup set for Saturday, May 12. According to Mrs. Elmore, “We need the support of Dunn’s citizens to help us clean up our All-America City.”
The chamber is currently recruiting volunteers to help on this special community event to spruce up the city and reinforce community pride among citizens and business owners. Committee members are asking volunteers to meet at the Dunn Chamber office located at the General William C. Lee Airborne Museum, 209 W. Divine St. by 9 a.m. to begin the cleanup.
The Beautification & Image Committee, along with the City of Dunn, will focus on Exit 73, Downtown Dunn, the Dunn-Erwin Trail, parks and other specific locations identified for cleanup. Civic clubs, church groups, businesses, schools and other groups are asked to help the city and chamber or choose another location such as their neighborhood, schools, etc.
“The more volunteers we have, the more impact we can make,” according to Mrs. Elmore.
Plans are to finish up by noon with a complimentary lunch at the grounds of the museum.
Mrs. Elmore invites everyone to “look in your neighborhood, the neighborhood your church is located in or where your business is located — if one of these areas needs to be cleaned up, then get your team together at work, church or in your neighborhood and let’s work together to make a difference in Dunn.”
Join the chamber and city for this citywide community cleanup day set for May 12. The chamber’s beautification sponsors will provide snacks, drinks, lunch and a T-shirt to all working participants. T-shirts are first come, first served as long as they last.
Call the chamber office at 910892-4113 to register so they will know how many to plan for and to reserve the T-shirts for your group.
