The Campbell women’s basketball team defeated Charleston Southern by a 54-37 margin in its Big South Conference home opener at Gore Arena on Saturday afternoon.
It was the seventh-straight victory for the Lady Camels, who improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Campbell’s current win streak is the longest by the program since the 2000-01 campaign.
Summer Price paced three Camels in double-figures with a game-high 15 points. Hannah Long and MaKala Rouse tallied 10 points apiece.
Rouse, Hayley Barber and Taya Bolden each pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
An early 7-0 run for the Camels in the first period represented the final lead change of the game as CU led for a total of 35 minutes in the contest.
Campbell held CSU (6-7, 0-2) scoreless for the first seven minutes of the third period and turned a 27-17 halftime lead to a 37-17 advantage with 4:22 left to play in the third.
The Buccaneers were only able to get back within 13 of the lead for the remainder of the contest.
The Camels, who entered the game as the top scoring defense in NCAA Division I, held the Bucs to just a .280 clip from the field (14-for-50) and just .133 shooting (2-for-15) from three point range.
The CU women hosted Radford on Tuesday night.
