Have you been avoiding the library lately? Is it because there are some old fines haunting you? Oh boy, does the library have the answer for you.
During the month of October, the Harnett County Library, Dunn Public Library and Coats Public Library will be accepting Halloween candy for overdue fines.
No matter if you owe $2 or $30 in fines, candy donations will wipe them out. Sorry, candy cannot be used to pay for lost or damaged items.
All bags of candy must be unopened with individually wrapped pieces. Individually packaged raisins, pretzels and cookies are great, too. The treats will be distributed to children attending Halloween library programs and trick-or-treaters visiting participating libraries on Oct. 31.
