Host Demons Finish Strong In Girls, Boys

Fike stopped visiting Triton’s momentum and took a pair of nonconference varsity basketball victories on Tuesday night.

The Hawk boys had a threegame winning streak stopped as the Golden Demons pulled away to a 79-57 win after Triton led 2220 with 3:35 left in the first half.

The Triton girls, coming off their first win, were turned back 68-53 as they were outscored 2717 in the fourth quarter.

“We came out strong at first,” said Hawk boys coach T.J. Morrison. “Then, we just fought against ourselves.”

Triton senior Shiquan Cox led all scorers with 18 points, but went out with his third foul early in the second half, allowing the hosts to turn a 26-22 halftime advantage into a 50-36 command.

Chrishaun Henry had 13 points for the Hawks (4-3) and Maurice Williams added 12. Terry Cooney and Trevone Williams tallied five each. Latrell McDougald and Colby Parker scored two apiece in the setback.

Williams had five assists and collected four rebounds.

The Triton girls (1-6) got 22 points from Allure Smith, 12 from Alexis Howard and 11 from Ana-Beth Brewer.

Anastasia McDonald had seven points for the Lady Hawks and Zoie Starling added one point.

The Triton girls outscored Fike 18-11 in the third quarter after trailing 30-18 at the half.

Triton’s teams visited Midway on Wednesday night. Those games were not completed at press time for this edition.
