Mabel ‘Joyce’ Harris, 80


Mrs. Mabel “Joyce” Harris, age 80, of 1183 Payton Daniels Road, Salemburg, formerly of Godwin, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Mrs. Mabel was born on June 30, 1937, in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Ivey Franklin Daniels and Gladys Lockamy Daniels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Daniel Harris; and a sister, Sadie Stocks.

She was a member of Mount Elam Baptist Church, Roseboro, and attended Falcon Church of God of Prophecy in Falcon. She was a wife and a homemaker. She attended Mingo School where she played basketball.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Stewart and the Rev. Samuel Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Autry Daniels Cemetery.

Survivors include son, Rufus Franklin Harris and wife Lucy of Salemburg; a daughter, Sharon Dawn Harris Honeycutt and husband James of Dunn; grandchildren, Anna Marie Hall and Jeremy of Erwin and Daniel Silas Honeycutt of Dunn; great-grandchildren, Lauren Makenzie Hall and Levi Johnson Hall, both of Erwin; sister, Myrtle Faye Williams and husband Crawford of Salemburg; brother, Sheral Davis Daniels and wife Brenda of Salemburg; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Faye Averitte of Stedman and Maggie Barefoot Harris of Godwin; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Pecan.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn and other times at the home of Sharon and James Honeycutt, 814 S. Washington Ave., Dunn.
