Samuel Braxton “Sammy” Herring, 48, of Meadowbrook Road, Benson, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Herring was born Jan. 26, 1969, in Harnett County to Sherrill Samuel Herring of Erwin and the late Joyce Massengill Herring. He served as a paramedic for several North Carolina counties and was also a member of Relief Lodge No. 431 A.F.& A.M., Benson.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Tony Capps, Richard Stump and Brian Dixon. Burial will follow in Reedy Prong Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Newton Grove.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his children, Samantha Herring and Braxton Herring, both of Erwin; Samantha and Braxton’s mother, Tammy Herring of Erwin; sister, Joan Capps and husband Tony of Four Oaks; and nieces, Teara Roberts and Heather Capps, both of Four Oaks.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Joan H. and Tony Capps, 5659 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks.
