Velma Mae Saunders Cameron, 93, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Westfield Health and Rehab.

She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Yadkin County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rose Jester Saunders; brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Tommy Phillips. Mrs. Cameron was a member of Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church. She operated an in-home day care for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and especially her flowers.

The funeral will be held 3 p.m. today at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Houston presiding. The family will receive friends after the services in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Rodney Cameron (Mary Sue) and Ronald Cameron (Agnes) of Broadway; daughters, Gail Holder (Tommy) of Broadway, Delores Greene (Billy) of Lillington, Kay Angell (Jim) of Middletown, N.Y., and Sue Kelly (Chuck) of Sanford; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Ethel Burns.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1302, Broadway, NC 27505.
