Four Camels scored in double- figures, but St. Francis (Pa.) defeated Campbell 79-68 in the first round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational Thursday night at Gore Arena. Summer Price led all scorers with 22 points.

Campbell finished the season with a 21-10 overall record, the eighth 20-win campaign in program history. The Camels made their first postseason appearance since 2000 after finishing second in the Big South Conference with a 13-5 league mark.

Campbell’s Ronny Fisher was named the Big South Coach of the Year after leading the Camels to an eight-win turnaround in his first season on the sidelines. CU has held the top scoring defense in NCAA Division I for the past 13 weeks and finishes the year holding opponents to just 49.6 points per game.

CU used a 13-0 run early in the third period to tie the game at 41-41 midway through the frame. The Red Flash (17-14) used a 5-0 spurt to take a 53-48 advantage with 1:41 on the clock. SFU took a 55-51 lead to the fourth period after a late layup from Samiah Bethel.

Campbell took its first lead of the game at 59-58 with 6:15 left to play when Hannah Long converted a contested layup and got fouled.

The Flash retook the lead in the next possession.
