Sunbelt Seniors Returning To Chicora

Chicora Country Club will host a Sunbelt Senior Tour event for the second straight year Wednesday through Friday.

The 14th annual North Carolina Open will be contested over the local layout.

Chris Hockaday of Angier is registered to play.

Chicora plays approximately 6,300 yards from the blue tees.

Competing players must be 47 or older. The determining date for age is June 14.

The field will be limited to 42 players and spots are available. Entry fee is $700 for tour members, $800 for nonmembers and $350 for amateurs.

Roger Rowland dominated the event last year with rounds of 65, 62 and 68 for a 195 total on the par-71 course. Rowland won by nine strokes over a second-place group that included Hockaday, Steve Ford, Derek Sanders and Rob McKelvey.

Rowland pocketed $3,000. The secondplace group each took home $1,375.

Former PGA Tour player Danny Edwards was sixth in 2016 and won $750.
