Astros Defeat Salem

Anthony Hermelyn drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning as the Buies Creek Astros took a 3-2 Carolina League baseball win over the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday night.

Taylor Jones scored on a single by Hermelyn after he led off with a double and advanced to third on a ground out.

The Red Sox tied the score at 2 on Jordan Betts’ solo home run in the fourth.

Jake Rogers had two hits, including a home run, for BC.

Elieser Hernandez (4-3) got the win with four innings of scoreless, three-hit relief.

Matthew Gorst (0-1) was charged with the loss.

The Astros are home tonight at 7 against Down East.
