ERWIN — Mrs. Agnes Henry Lucas, 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mrs. Lucas was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Harnett County, daughter of the late George Washington Henry and Lessie Penny Henry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Lucas Jr.; brother, Graham Henry; and sisters, Christine Baker and Violene McLaurin.
Mrs. Lucas was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She also was a member of East Erwin Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn with the Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. A private burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by her sons, Ralph Lucas and wife Carol of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joe Lucas and wife Dawn of Erwin, Mike Lucas and wife Etta of Trent Woods; sister, Beatrice Wishart of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lucas and wife Ashley of Washington, D.C., Jessica Lucas of Seattle, Washington, Justin Lucas and wife Jenni of Southport, Garrett Lucas and wife Paige of Erwin, Kelly Jones and husband Lucas of Wilmington, Lindsey Lucas of New Bern; seven great-grandchildren; a special niece, Nancy Hall of Lumberton; and three nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
