Benson Declares State Of Emergency; Imposes Curfew


The Town of Benson Board of Commissioners has declared a State of Emergency effective until 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17.

The State of Emergency stipulates the following conditions within the corporate limits of the Town of Benson:

Curfew and Travel Restriction: The chief of police and the town manager are granted the authority to impose a curfew and travel restriction within the corporate limits of the Town of Benson between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. from Thursday, Sept. 13, until Monday, Sept. 17.

Voluntary Evacuation: A voluntary evacuation of the Highway 301 Trailer Park is hereby ordered due to the potential risks of extreme flooding for homes at 308 N. Wall St. and 402 N. Wall St. Residents of these addresses are strongly encouraged to vacate their homes by 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. The forecasted rain could produce flooding that would not allow emergency personnel to access these homes.
