The legal community in Johnston County is mourning the loss of a member of a Benson law firm.

Scarlett VanStory Levinson, 29, passed away on Oct. 2 according to the law firm of Levinson & Axford. Her death is attributed to a cardiac event following complications from the flu.

“Scarlett was a valued and beloved member of our firms, remarkable for her generosity, wit and big heart,” a company spokesperson said in a press release. “We have lost a great friend, colleague and partner. She will be missed by everyone at our firms, our families and the North Carolina community at large.

Mrs. Levinson is a graduate of Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her law degree at the Norman Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Levinson.

The family will conduct a memorial service and provide her obituary at a later date.
