Bobbie Louis McKoy was gifted to this world on April 27, 1939, through his parents, the late Billy McKoy and Tammer Jones McKoy in Harnett County, where he also spent his early years in school. He gained his spiritual foundation at Pisgah Top Holiness Church in Erwin and matured in his spiritual journey at the Love Center in Dunn. He had six brothers and one sister where he was fourth in the sibling lineup.

Bobbie, or Uncle Bob as he was affectionately referred, was very proud of his over 30 years of employment with Erwin Mills/Swift Manufacturing. As a result of his exceptional work ethic and easy-going and friendly personality, he received many awards and some lifelong friends.

In his later years, he enjoyed traveling both inside and outside of the United States, especially with the Senior Center and family. He participated in the Senior Olympics winning several medals and faithfully and daily arrived early to pack meals for the Meals on Wheels Senior Program and could always be counted on to deliver meals when staff was short or anything else to ensure that the seniors were well cared for.

Gardening was also a love from his childhood, and he had bountiful produce which he shared with the community. It was really the simple pleasures that he so greatly enjoyed like visiting seniors in the nursing homes, especially those who did not have frequent or regular visits from loved ones, and sitting on the front porch talking and laughing with family and friends but not forgetting to wave at everyone as they passed by.

In addition to his parents, Bobbie/Uncle Bob was preceded in death by four of his six brothers: Stephen (Hazel) McKay of Dunn, Willie (Montennis) McCoy of Greensboro, Preston (Marie) McCoy of Dunn, and Howard (Gloria) McCoy of Dunn. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Helen McKoy of Dunn; two brothers, Billy (Betty) McKoy and Charles McCoy of Dunn; and nieces who were more so daughters, Rickye (Rick) McKoy-Mitchell of Charlotte and Vicki Gerald of Dunn as well as many beloved relatives and friends.

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at 1 p.m. at The Love Center, 345 Jackson Road, Dunn.

Services provided by Dafford Funeral Home.
