One week before kicking off the 2019 football season at Troy, Campbell will host its annual Fan Fest on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Action gets underway at 6 p.m., when fans can get a live glimpse of the 2019 Camels on the field. At 6:45 p.m., everyone’s favorite mascots, Gaylord and Gladys, arrive at Barker-Lane Stadium. The night will close with an autograph session with Campbell players and coaches on the field at 7:30 p.m.
Fans can also get their first look at Barker-Lane Stadium’s newest addition from Tailgate Guys. It’s also not too late to purchase single-game tickets for all six of CU’s home dates this season, or its three-game mini-plan.
Heading into his seventh season as head coach, Mike Minter led the Camels through a successful transition to the Big South Conference last season, their first as a scholarship program. Campbell finished 6-5 overall and 1-4 in its inaugural Big South season, securing back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in the program’s modern era (since 2008).
For the third straight season, Campbell broke its overall attendance record (35,405) in 2018, while resetting Barker-Lane Stadium’s single-game mark with 6,712 for its Homecoming tilt vs. Gardner-Webb.
In addition, seven Camels were named to All-Big South teams, highlighted by 2019 returners Caleb Snead and Brad Dennis on the league’s first team.
The Camels led the FCS in fewest passing yards allowed per game (122.5), while ranking 25th in total defense (335.4 yards per game). CU also ranked in the FCS’ top-10 in fewest sacks allowed (0.82 per game), finishing the year sixth.
Nine Camels were named to preseason All-Big South teams at the league’s 2019 media day, while Campbell was picked fourth in the Big South Preseason Poll
