Campbell women’s golf enjoys summer success

Posted

Returning and incoming members of Campbell’s nationally-ranked women’s golf team have enjoyed tremendous success during the summer of 2019. Fighting Camels have competed in the Ladies European Amateur and British Women’s Amateur Championships, while Emily Hawkins tees off next week in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.

Coach John Crooks’ 28th Camel team concluded another historic season with its 16th conference title and 22nd NCAA post-season appearance. The NGCA Hall of Fame coach guided his team to three tournament wins — the Golfweek Program Challenge, LSU Tiger Classic and Big South Championship — an eighth-consecutive trip to NCAA regional competition and a No. 23 finish in the final 2019 Golfstat national ranking.

Six of the seven members of the 2018-19 squad that won a fourth-straight Big South Conference title return, including the top four in terms of stroke average. Campbell finished third nationally as a team in 2019 in average score (73.24), tied for fifth in eagles (10), seventh in score v. par (+1.73) and par-3 scoring (3.13), ninth in par-4 scoring (4.15) and birdies (452) and 16th in par-5 scoring (4.92).
