FAYETTEVILLE – The Cumberland County Fair will be held Aug. 30 through Sept. 8 at the Crown Complex.
Due to renovations of the Crown Coliseum’s ice system, ice floor and two parking lots at the complex, the fair is being relocated to the Crown Arena, which faces U.S. Highway 301 and is across the parking lot from the coliseum. The rides and midway will be just outside the arena and Crown Theatre. The displays and livestock exhibits will be inside the arena.
Admission is free opening night, Aug. 30, and the gates open at 5 p.m. Gates will also open at 5 p.m. Sept. 3-6 and at 1 p.m. Aug. 31 through Sept. 2 and Sept. 7-8.
The annual event celebrates Cumberland County’s agricultural heritage and combines family fun and entertainment with rides and fair food. Events happening all week include an interactive petting farm; Johnny Rockett’s Cycle Circus Live, Family and Consumer Sciences education, home, craft and agricultural exhibits; and a wide range of performances on the entertainment stage. Ticket prices are $7. Unlimited ride wristbands are $25. Individual ride tickets are $1.25. Wristbands and tickets are sold separately. Children under 2 years-old get in free.
Early Bird One Price Night is Sept. 2, with $10 admission and unlimited ride wristbands from 1 to 5 p.m. and $15 admission and unlimited rides after 5 p.m.
Pay One Price nights are Sept. 3-5. Admission and unlimited ride wristbands are $15.
Senior Expo is Sept. 5 from 1-4 p.m. in the Crown Expo. Senior citizens get in free.
Military and Emergency Services (law enforcement, firefighters and EMS/rescue) Appreciation Night is Sept. 6. Free admission with valid ID card or uniform.
Exhibit contest entries and junior livestock shows
Exhibit entries will be accepted Aug. 26 and 27 in various categories including seasonal, clothing, arts and crafts, canned fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more. Information is available at cumberlandcountyfair.org.
The Junior Livestock Shows will be held weeknights. The deadline to register is Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. Junior Livestock Show dates and times are as follows:
The Annual Little “Ewe” Jump Start Livestock Clinic for children ages 2 to 4 years of age will be held Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. This clinic provides youth an educational opportunity to learn the process and techniques of showing livestock in an effort to encourage future livestock show participation. Under parental supervisions, participants will be allowed to walk a lamb around and speak to a judge. The deadline to register is Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.
