Harnett Regional Theatre will open Disney’s “Mary Poppins” Friday at The Stewart Theatre, 114 N. Wilson Ave., downtown Dunn.
This classic story of a practically perfect nanny takes the stage for two weekends Feb. 28 through March 8. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 28-29 and March 6-7, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, March 1 and 8.
General admission tickets are $15 and available at onlinehrt.org , by visiting the Dunn Area Tourism Authority office at 103 E. Cumberland St., Dunn, or at the door.
The production is directed by Jacob Godwin and choreographed by Alicia Howell. The show hosts many firsts for both the Stewart Theatre and Harnett Regional Theatre, including the first time each is using digital stage lighting. This lighting technique allows for a more immersive experience for showgoers.
The show features 45 cast members that hail from all over Central and Eastern North Carolina. The stage is rigged for “magic” and the show features an extensive tap production number.
“I am very excited to be directing this talented group of actors — they are some of the most experienced I have ever worked with,” Godwin said. “We are all excited to make this show come to life for our community!”
Harnett Regional Theatre’s regular season will conclude with “Steel Magnolias” in May. Auditions will be held March 30 and 31 at The Stewart Theatre.
