Erwin man killed in Red Hill Church wreck

Charges pending as investigation continues

A 63-year-old Erwin man was killed in a two-car collision on Red Hill Church Road Wednesday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Jarronnie Campbell was driving down the road around 7 a.m. when his car collided with an SUV near the entrance to the Huntington subdivision and the Three Bridge Road intersection.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ashley Cordes of Benson was driving the SUV, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers say she was not seriously injured.

Campbell was pinned inside the vehicle when officers arrived. He had died on the scene.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Traffic was detoured around the area for a few hours during the wreck’s initial investigation.
