MB married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Beasley, on Dec. 21, 1957. They moved to Fayetteville, N.C., in 1967 and he immediately became involved in Person Street PH Church, now known as Baywood P.H. Church. He served in many capacities such as a deacon, board member, and chairperson of the building committee and was dedicated to serving his Lord and Savior.

MB opened Morty Pride Meats in 1970. His oldest son, Mickey, joined the business in 1980 and his youngest son, Chris, joined in 1984. Today the third generation has entered into the family business to continue their grandfather’s legacy of hard work, dedication and perseverance. He was a long-standing member and past-president of the N.C. Meat Processors Association.

MB impressed upon his family and friends the importance of faith, and demonstrated his Christian values through his daily life. MB never met a stranger and always wanted to help others succeed in life and in business. He was a mentor to many and will be greatly missed.
