Pastor Appreciation Day set at Long Branch

Long Branch Church will observe Pastor Appreciation Day at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Dr. Phillip Newton, his wife Traci, and daughter Madison will be honored.

The Rev. Freddie Steel, pastor of First Mercy Gate of Mooresville, will be the guest speaker for the morning service. A covered-dish lunch will follow.

A native of Rocky Mount, Dr. Phillip Newton holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lee University, a Master of Divinity degree from the Church of God Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Erskine Theological Seminary. He also completed a one-year residency in clinical pastoral education at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

Newton received the call to ministry while attending Lee University. He has served in ministry as a pastor, a staff pastor and faculty at colleges and seminary. He has served as senior pastor at Long Branch Church for 12 years.

Long Branch Church is located at 1013 Long Branch Road, east of Interstate 95 South at exit 71.
