Phil Steele has named 13 Camels to his 2019 Big South all-conference teams, recently announced by the publication.
The defensive duo of linebacker Justice Galloway-Velazquez and defensive back Darion Slade were named to the Big South first team, leading six Campbell defenders on the list. Defensive linemen Brevin Allen and Damien Dozier, along with cornerback Kam Prewitt were named to the second team, while Dorian Jones, another Campbell defensive back, was tabbed third team all-conference.
On the offensive side, Caleb Snead was one of six Camels to repeat on Steele’s postseason All-Big South team. Snead, a first team member and freshman All-American selection in 2018, was named to Steele’s all-conference second team after an injury shortened his sophomore campaign.
Also earning second team honors were offensive linemen Jacob Cuddington and Tyler McLellan, while freshman wide receiver Jalen Kelsey and senior tight end Michael Wooten were tabbed third team All-Big South. Additionally, Brad Dennis was named second team All-Big South at punter.
Steele also named quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams his Big South Freshman of the Year. Williams was also named the Big South’s 2019 Offensive Freshman of the Year in the league’s official postseason awards, joining eight other Camels on the list. Williams was named First Team Freshman All-American by HERO Sports, while Galloway-Velazquez earned honorable mention Sophomore All-American accolades.
Campbell recently announced its complete 2020 football schedule, featuring six home dates and a full Big South slate. Season tickets for the entire 2020 season, which kicks off on Sept. 5 in Buies Creek against Davidson, remain on sale at GoCamels.com.
