Sundown In Downtown Continues In Benson

Band of Oz will perform tonight

North Carolina Music Hall of Fame members The Band Of Oz take the stage tonight in Benson’s Singing Grove when the Sundown in Downtown concert series continues. Steve Hardy’s Beach Party will begin the show at 5:30 p.m. and the band will take to the stage at 6 p.m.

Based in Dunn, the Band of Oz has kept audiences all across the state and region entertained with their blend of beach, soul, top 40 and even country music.

On Aug. 14 when the sound shifts to a combination of beach music, oldies and disco as the Liquid Pleasure Band returns to the Sundown In Downtown series.

The Liquid Pleasure Band’s repertoire of music is from artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Jackie Wilson, Etta James and Aretha Franklin.

Sundown In Downtown returns to the Singing Grove for the annual Mule Days Concert on Sept. 20 featuring national recognized country music artist Ronnie McDowell.

Mr. McDowell came to prominence in 1977 when he released the Elvis tribute single “The King is Gone.”

He used the hit as a springboard to success and followed with hits such as “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation,” “Watchin Girls Go By” and “Older Women.”

All shows are free and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
