Thank You

How can we say thank you

For everything that you’ve done;

Defending our rights and freedom

In the wars you’ve fought and won.

How can we say thank you

For leaving families and friends;

To take the battle to our foes

Just how do we begin.

How can we say thank you

For the sacrifices you have made;

Giving everything you had to give

For the blood spilled on the blade.

How can we say thank you

For answering the call to serve;

That many would not answer

They did not have the nerve.

How can we say thank you

For the injuries you now bear;

Lost lives, lost limbs, lost loved ones

The scars some now must wear.

How can we say thank you

One day a year to me;

Is not enough for the price paid

For America’s liberty.

How can we say thank you

For serving on land, air and sea;

All people must acknowledge

That freedom is not free.

How can we say thank you

A grateful nation needs to know;

Some way, somehow, some fashion

Appreciation to you show.

How can we say thank you

Lord help us to remember;

This special day we celebrate

Each 11th of November.

How can we say thank you

Today we try to do our part;

By letting veterans know we love them

From the bottom of our hearts.
