to hold craft, yard sale

The Benson Center for Active Aging will host its Inside Craft & Yard Sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. BCAA is a nonprofit center for older adults in the community. In addition of a chance at some great deals, there will door prizes available. The center is located at 1204 N. Johnson St., Benson. Selma museum to honor Amelia Earhart

The August program of the Max G. Creech Selma Historical Museum will be a look into the life and legend of Ameilia Earhart.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the museum, located at 104 W. Anderson St., Selma.

Eric Jackson, historian and event host, states, “The legend of Ameila Earhart is still viable in 2019, new evidence in the mystery of her death is making headlines.”

“We will also pay tribute to Bessie Coleman, the first African-American female pilot whose career overlapped Earhart’s,” Jackson said.

Beatles tribute
at Temple

Beatlesque, is a Beatles tribute band based in Raleigh, will be at Sanford’s Temple Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Tickets are $20.

Beatlesque strives to replicate the sound and look of the Beatles down to the smallest detail while performing music from the Beatles entire catalog.

call for artists

The Angier Rotary is looking for your artists to participate in its Art Auction and Art Sale on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Participation can be with or without a donation with a booth to sell your products from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Angier Depot.

Registration underway for Chalk Fest

The Harnett County Arts Council is taking registration for Chalk Fest 2019. This year’s event will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 on North Wilson Avenue in downtown Dunn.

Early registration is recommended. There will only be 24 squares available — eight squares per age group.

Registration is $15 per square, which includes a reserved spot on the street and one pack of Mungyo Gallery Standard Soft Pastel Blistercart set of 24 chalk pieces per square.
