DUNN — T.I. Denning Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born June 21, 1935, in Sampson County, the son of the late Thomas Denning and Lena Norris Denning. He was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Denning.
T.I. was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time on any body of water fishing. He was a farmer by trade who enjoyed the crops he tended and the smell of fresh tilled earth while he plowed the fields. T.I. was a kind and gentle man, soft spoken and devoted to his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 26 years, JoAnn Denning; daughters, Rethida Denning of Four Oaks, N.C., Charlene Beasley and husband Mike of Clayton, N.C.; stepdaughter, Lisa Barefoot of Cameron, N.C.; brother, Jesse Denning and wife Diane; sister, Bethodill Sessoms and husband Arnold of Erwin; daughter-in-law, Tammy Denning of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and numerous other loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 784 Maple Grove Church Road, Dunn, N.C., with the Rev. Allison Lancaster and the Rev. Mike Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Dunn.
