Fish fry Friday at
Oak Grove

The Men’s Ministry + 1 of Oak Grove AME Zion Church will sponsor a fish fry on Friday, Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. until all of the food is gone. Cost is $7 per plate. Eat-in, pick-up or delivery is available. Proceeds will benefit church needs. The church is located at 3920 Bunnlevel-Erwin Road, Erwin. The Rev. Nicholas M. Irion is the pastor. 100 Women in
Red program

Life in Christ Christian Ministries will hold a 100 Women in Red program Saturday at 3 p.m. The theme is “Covered under the blood of Jesus.”

Speaker will be Eldress Betty Washington of Cutts Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The program is hosted by first lady Lena Gainey.

Pastor anniversary program Sunday

On Sunday, the annual pastor anniversary program will be observed at Evening Star United Holiness Church beginning at 11 a.m. They will honor Elder Kenneth Dixon for his service to Evening Star. Dr. Margaret Wilson, pastor of Harnett Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, Dunn, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be provided after the morning service. Everyone is invited to attend. Evening Star is located at 108 S. Sampson Ave., Dunn.

Gospel sing to honor memory of Wayne Lawrence

There will be a night of gospel music Friday at 6 p.m. at Greater Light Baptist Church. This event will honor the memory of Wayne Lawrence. Featured will be Safe Haven and the Rivenbark Ministries.

The church is located at 1501 N. Raleigh St., Angier. All donations will be put toward the church building fund in honor of Mr. Lawrence.

Pastor anniversary celebration

Greater Faith & Deliverance invites you to help celebrate Lewis A. Geddie and first lady Jo Ann Geddie’s fifth pastor’s anniversary. Friday at 7:30 p.m., the speaker will be Pastor Tamisha Mack-Malloy of Secure Holy Church of God, Fayetteville. On Aug. 25 at 11:15 a.m., the speaker will be Elder Edward McDuffie of Greater Faith & Deliverance. The 3 p.m. speaker will be Elder Thomas Sumpter of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Dunn.

Scholarship foundation to hold fundraising event

The Mary K. McKoy Living Legacy Scholarship Foundation invites you to the second annual Cuts for Boys and Curls for Girls fundraising event. It will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Healing Center Ministry’s Inc., 1500 Brick Mill Road, Coats. Stylists include Teddy Mason, India McKoy James, Dominique Cooper and Martina Wiggins.

Gospel sing to be held Saturday

Cumberland Street Baptist and My Brother’s Keeper will host The Crusaders, New Vision, Believers Quartet and Won 4 Christ on Saturday at 6 p.m. at 200 S. King Ave., Dunn. We’re on a Roll hot dog stand will be there at 5 to sell hot dogs to everyone beforehand so everyone can eat and fellowship in the fellowship hall. This is a free event. A love offering will be received to help raise support for My Brother’s Keeper’s efforts to help the needy in our area.

David Phelps Family Band in concert
Sept. 8

be honored

The Love Center will celebrate senior adults, ages 70 and older, on Sunday at 11 a.m.

On Sunday at 1 p.m., the Mothers’ Ministry will sponsor a plate sale at Sampson Chapel Church. There will be barbecue pork, turkey barbecue or grilled chicken. The one meat plates will include two sides, bread, dessert and drink for $7 and the two-meat plates will be $9.

Unity Advent Christian Church will host The Hockadys during the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Pastor Darren Brisco cordially invites anyone to come and enjoy the Southern gospel singing.

Youth Takeover Sunday

Youth Takeover Sunday will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. at Cameron Grove AME Zion Church. The speaker will be Christian Locust, a graduate of Southern Lee High School and currently an educator with Scotland County Schools. Radio announcers from WCCG 104.5 FM will be also be present with school supplies for all attendees. Lunch will be served.

Buffet breakfast at Calvary Baptist

Calvary Baptist Church will sponsor a country buffet breakfast on Saturday from 7 to 10:30 a.m. The menu consists of country ham, sausage, bacon, grits, eggs, homemade biscuits, red-eye gravy, peaches, jellies, molasses, coffee and juice. Donations are accepted for the meal. The church is located approximately 7 miles east of Dunn on N.C. 55 near the N.C. 242 intersection. The Rev. Jerry Hicks is the pastor.

guest speaker

Pastor Dennis H. Manuel from Church of God of Prophecy in Dunn will be the guest speaker on a pastor’s aid service at Grazing Mountains Church. The service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The church is located at 110 Old Post Road, Erwin.

McKoy’s Chapel to honor pastor

McKoy’s Chapel will celebrate its pastor’s anniversary Sunday morning at 11. The Rev. M. Tatum and his congregation from Bethel in Fayetteville will render the service. Elder James Baker is the pastor. The church is located at 1986 old Stage Road, Coats.

Musicians program set at Pleasant Grove

A Musicians Appreciation Program will be presented at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church, 1520 Casper Road, Dunn.

Pisgah Top to host women’s convention

Pisgah Top Bible Church of God will host the 85th annual Women’s Home Mission Convention Friday and Saturday. Service time Friday is 4 and 7 p.m. On Saturday, the service begins at 11 a.m. An afternoon service will begin at 2 Saturday with Home Mission President Eldress Elaine Chance bringing the annual message.

The convention will close with a 6 p.m. service Saturday with Vice Bishop Ray B. Mett speaking to the women.

The pastor is Chief Bishop Apostle Harry Lee of Lumberton. The church is located at 171 Lamm Ave., Erwin.

host Cross Road

Faith Mission Church, on South Gilbert Street, Benson, will have Elder Jerry Bailey speaking at 11 a.m. Sunday. At 3 p.m., Pastor Allen McNeil and congregation from Cross Road Church will be at Faith Mission to fellowship.

Yard sale and fish fry at Dunn Chapel

Dunn Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, located at 607 E. Edgerton St., Dunn, will have a yard sale and fish fry from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Plates will be sold for $8 each. The menu will include whiting or trout and choice of boiled potatoes, slaw, green beans and dessert. Eat in or take out.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Pastor’s Anniversary event. Host pastor is Elder Timothy Thomas.
