Two Campbell men's golfers and one from the women's side were honored by the Big South Conference this week.
BUIES CREEK, N.C. —Henrik Lilja earned Big South Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week and Henric Bjelke was named the league’s freshman of the week following their season-opening performances.
Meanwhile, Anna Nordfors was named Big South Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after winning individual honors and leading Campbell to the team title at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
Lilja tied for sixth individually to match his career-best finish to help Campbell to a third-place finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. He followed Monday’s collegiate career-low, 8-under-par 64 with a 3-under 69 to finish the event at 9-under.
His 8-under-par 64 tied for the fourth-lowest round in Campbell men’s golf history.
Bjelke birdied two of his final three holes to finish at 3-under and in a tie for 21st in his inaugural collegiate outing.
Nordfors won her second collegiate title and Campbell opened the year with a 12-stroke victory at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
She shot a collegiate-best 66 in the opening round and played the final 36 holes even to edge Lauren Thompson of Lipscomb by one stroke.
Campbell women return to action Sept. 26-28 for the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park GC in Greensboro.
The men compete next Sept. 20-21 in the Battle at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina.
