SANFORD – Carolina Indie Fest, a two-day independent music festival featuring 45 performances, will take place in downtown Sanford Sept. 18-19.
The festival will host three stages, a street filled with crafts and artisan goods, and a food truck rodeo. The event was developed by Indie On Air, and is presented along with Visit Sanford and Sanford area businesses.
The Main Stage will be located on Wicker Street and will feature headliner acts. The Beer Garden Stage will be in the Cole Street Parking Lot behind Hugger Mugger Brewing and will feature a variety of musical styles, including artists who have national and international awards as artists and as songwriters. Inside Hugger Mugger Brewing, a stage will host acoustic acts for a more intimate musical experience.
Indie on Air has hosted similar festivals in other states, but this is a first for North Carolina. CEO Jeff Popka says, “Indie on Air is thrilled to present the best independent talent in the country. This event is just a large example of how Sanford is making its name as a music and arts loving community.”
In addition to outstanding musical talent, the festival will include a food truck rodeo that offers everything from Kenyan influenced barbecue, Portuguese, and Mediterranean to burgers and fries.
In the beer garden visitors will find local craft beers, wine and cider.
“This festival is designed to create an amazing, authentic experience from the music to the food, beverages, and handmade goods,” says Visit Sanford Executive Director Wendy Bryan.
