GODWIN — Beauty Lee Brewington, 88, of Autry Mill Road, died on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Beauty was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Sampson County, the daughter of the late H.O. Brewington and Lessie Stewart Brewington. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Brewington. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Henry Brewington; sister, Lystra Maynor; and a son-in-law, William Murdock.
Beauty was a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a member of the Coharie Tribe and served as the Senior Citizen Queen in the 1990s.
She was a certified nursing assistant and worked at Golden Years Nursing Home as a caregiver to the elderly. She always enjoyed working with the seniors in both Cumberland, Sampson and Harnett counties. She was an avid quilter and won many ribbons for her quilts.
During her residence at Day Spring of Wallace, she was a “Prayer Warrior” for the other residents of the home.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2271 Autry Mill Road, Godwin, with the Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Brewington and wife Mae of Godwin, Joanna Chance and husband Stan of Godwin, Henry Brewington and wife Veronica of Godwin, Jean Murdock of Fayetteville and Beverly Ennis and husband Linwood of Godwin; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation Thursday, Dec. 3, from noon to 1:45 p.m. at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church in Godwin, prior to the service.
