Campbell women’s basketball is scheduled to make its Women’s National Invitation Tournament debut this week.
BUIES CREEK — Campbell women’s basketball is scheduled to make its Women’s National Invitation Tournament debut this week, following an official bracket release by tourney officials Monday afternoon.
CU (23-7) travels to Liberty (27-4) on Wednesday for a first-round matchup.
Campbell accepted its first-ever WNIT invite as the Big South Conference’s automatic qualifier after winning the conference regular-season title and earning the top seed for the league tournament. The Lady Camels matched the program record for wins in a season and finished as runner-up in the Big South Championships after reaching the final for a third straight tourney.
This also marks the third postseason tournament overall under head coach Ronny Fisher after earning bids to the 2017 and 2019 WBI tourneys. Fisher led the Lady Camels to the WBI semifinals in 2019, marking the first postseason tournament wins in program history.
Wednesday’s tip is set for 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to face the winner of Vanderbilt and Murray State in the second round.
