CCCC men's hoops opens season

Central Carolina Community College men's basketball split its two games to open the 2020-21 season last week.

Friday, CCCC set a school record with 26 three-pointers made to key a 110-85 win over Guilford Tech. 

Leading scorers for CCCC were Montell Moore- 21 points; Derek Gardner- 18 points; Wesley Case- 16 points; Camaron Womble- 14 points; Joshua Bell- 13 points; and Western Harnett alum Darnell Carver added 10 points.

Sunday, CCCC led Patrick Henry CC at the half but struggled shooting the ball in the second half, losing 74-71. 

Moore led all scorers with 17 points, Gardner added 14 points and Womble had 13.

The Cougars (1-1) open the home slate Wednesday against Louisburg College.
