Campbell’s Ryan Chasse was named the Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week after his performance against Winthrop Friday.
The redshirt sophomore tied his longest career no-hit bid and earned the win in the second game, an 8-1 victory, of the doubleheader.
The Apex native did not allow a hit until a two-out single in the seventh inning. His 6 2/3 hitless innings tie the mark he set his freshman year against Charleston Southern.
Chasse finished the day with a line of seven innings pitched, one hit, one run, no earned runs and eight strikeouts. He faced just three batters in first, third, fourth and sixth innings, helped out by picking off two runners.
Chasse has now won this award twice this season and three times during his career. Campbell has brought home four Big South weekly awards this season.
Camels teammates Zach Neto, Logan Heintzman and Thomas Harrington received votes for player of the week, top relief pitcher and top freshman honors, respectively.
