Dinosaur World opens June 9

Dinosaur World opens at Fayetteville’s Sweet Valley Ranch on Wednesday, June 9, offering guests a chance to see 25 animatronic dinos “in their natural habitat” and other dinosaur adventures through Aug. 8.

Once inside, guests will take a shuttle ride to the ¼-mile, woodsy, paved Dinosaur Trail that features animatronic dinosaurs (large and small), an abandoned research lab, observation booths and plenty of special effect props, according to a release from VisitFayettevilleNC.com.

“We take pride in not being one of those ‘parking lot dinosaur attractions,’” Fred Surgeon, owner of Sweet Valley Ranch, told VisitFayettevilleNC.com. “We spared no details in taking guests back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth.”

For the price of admission, guests can also enjoy a fossil museum, a reptile house, a fossil dig, a Dinosaur Playland, and walking the grounds to view the hundreds of animals on site.

On Saturday evenings at 8:30 p.m., guests can take part in an Interactive Rescue Mission, which tasks participants to locate missing staff involved with the creation of Dinosaur World. The Interactive Rescue Mission includes a nighttime Farm Tour and viewing of life-size lighted dinosaur displays.

For an extra fee, guests can also take a guided farm tour on a tractor-pulled covered wagon, a 20-minute go-kart trek nature trail tour, or fish at one of two stocked ponds. All fishing supplies are included. The fishing experience is catch and release.

Dinosaur World will be open weekly from Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. each day. Tickets range from $16 to $39 for adults and $8 to $19 for children, ages 3 through 12.
