DUNN — Mrs. Doris Lee Johnson, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Johnson was born in Johnston County on April 20, 1940, to the late Jesse Eston and Pauline Norris Lee. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Norris, Ruth West, and Hazel Strickland.
Mrs. Johnson worked for many years at Erwin Mills as an inspector, until she left to care for her mother. Mrs. Johnson later managed the Beacon Mission Stores. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed puzzles and would assemble every puzzle donated to the Beacon to make sure all the pieces were there. Mrs. Johnson also enjoyed flowers. She loved painting in the Bob Ross style and was known as a very talented painter. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her three boys. She is loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at Abundant Life Worship Center with the Rev. Pat Chisenhall officiating.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bruce Johnson; sons, Frank Hall and wife Tammy, Wayne Hall and wife Kandy, and Mark Hall and wife Judy; Heather Dawn Tew who is like a daughter to her; sister, Carolyn Wood; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and special friend Pam Betts.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at Abundant Life Worship Center.
The family requests no flowers, but memorials for Mrs. Johnson may be made to Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
