GODWIN — Mrs. Hazel Evelene Wrench House, 92, of Wrench Road, passed away Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022, at her home.
Evelene was born May 5, 1930, in Harnett County, daughter of the late Robie and Inez Matthews Wrench. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elton Carnell House; sons, Dwayne E. House and Elton L. House; grandchildren, Stevie Danielle House and Taylor Denise House; and daughter-in-law, Rosemarie McGrath House.
She was a lifetime member of Baptist Chapel Church, where she was active in the WMU and Silver Bells. When she could no longer attend church services she watched from home. She loved traveling, gardening, sewing and spending time with her friends and family. She worked in the bookstore and grill at Sampson Tech and had owned and operated House’s Country Store. She also was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Baptist Chapel Church with the Rev. Tre Wiggins, the Rev. Joey Cantrell and Mr. Hubert Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce H. Hall and husband Denis of Dunn, Judy H. Tyndall and husband Larry Don of Autryville, and Catherine Denise House of Dunn; 13 grandchildren, Carnella Hall Nuesmeyer, Daryl Hall (Toni), Jeremy Tyndall (Melissa), Donna Tyndall Spell (Kyle), Jason Tyndall, April Robinson (Ryan), Lee-Anne Westbrook (Nicholas), Stephanie MacKaravitz, Brittany House (Jeff), Lindsay House, Jonathan House, Justin House, and Joshua House (Brittany); 17 great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Nuesmeyer, McKenna Moore, Ezra Hall, Harper Tyndall, Nathan Tyndall, Drake Spell, Kylie Spell, Carter Spell, Kyle Robinson, Reed Robinson, Nicholas Westbrook Jr., Allison Westbrook, Zander Galant, Zane Galant, Zion White, Brayden House, and Malachi House; great-great-grandchild, Ella Rose Spell; brothers, Thomas Earl Wrench and wife Ada of Godwin, and Willie Wrench and wife Carolyn of Godwin; and sister, Nadean Lockamy of Erwin.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church before the service.
