BUIES CREEK— After posting a career-best finish at the Sea Best Invitational, Josh Hetherington of Campbell University was named Big South Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.
A senior from Melbourne, Australia, Hetherington finished in a tie for fourth place at TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley, where he matched his career low in the final round (75-70-68—213). On Tuesday, he led Campbell to the low team round of the day (288) on the par-70 Pete Dye design.
Campbell (298-296-288--882) finished tied fourth in the 12-team event behind North Florida (861), Duke (873) and Liberty (873) and ahead of N.C. State (884).
Only two players in the 75-golfer field finished in red numbers over 54 holes on the 6,790-yard layout.
Hetherington was 2-under over the final 36 holes. His 2-under par final round included six birdies. Hetherington finished the event tied for third in birdies (12) and par-5 scoring (-4) and tied for fifth on the par-4 holes (+5).
Hetherington and the Camels return to action Mar. 1-2 in the Southern Invitational, hosted by Loyola-Maryland at The Falls Club in Palm Beach, Florida.
