On Friday, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Greg Gebhardt, received a formal endorsement from Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett), a key legislative leader in the State House, serving as chairman of the Rules Committee.
Lewis issued the following statement:
“A highly-decorated Iraq War Veteran, Greg is a patriot and servant leader that I am fully confident is the right person to serve our state as our next lieutenant governor. I’ve known Greg and his beautiful family for several years as he recently served as my chief of staff in the North Carolina House of Representatives. In that role, Greg played a crucial role in some of the most notable, conservative victories of the General Assembly, including historic tax reform and securing our elections through Voter ID. I can say without hesitation, if not for Greg’s efforts, our party and our state would not be where they are today.
“Greg is a steadfast leader who will always choose right over wrong, regardless of the political consequences. Most importantly, Greg is a servant leader who will always put the interests of his fellow North Carolinians first. Our success as a state and our ability to remain the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family depends on folks like Greg. Greg is a fighter. Greg will fight as our lieutenant governor to ensure that American exceptionalism, opportunity, and the American dream are alive for generations to come. I am delighted to give him my full and unequivocal endorsement.”
