Local coaches make picks for ‘The Big Game’

Posted

As Super Bowl LV approaches, The Daily Record sports staff reached out to local high school football coaches for their picks ahead of 'The Big Game.'

Matt Migliore

(Harnett Central)

Tampa Bay, 31-27

Migliore's take: As a Steelers fan, I’ve rooted against (Tom) Brady too many times in the playoffs. He’s broken my heart in most of them. I just can’t pick against him in the biggest spotlight. Plus, their defense is good enough to slow Kansas City down enough to win.

Ben Penny

(Triton)

Tampa Bay, 31-28

Penny's take: Kansas City has an advantage with experience as a whole. The Super Bowl is a business trip and not a vacation, and they understand that. However, Tampa Bay has the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) and nobody knows how to approach this game like he does.

Blake Culbertson

(Western Harnett)

Tampa Bay, 38-35

Culbertson's take: Brady.

Matt Riggsbee

(South Johnston)

Kansas City, 24-21

Riggsbee's take: They’ll stop the Bucs (Tampa Bay) once or twice for the win. Chiefs are the greatest show on turf.

Joe Salas

(Hobbton)

Tampa Bay, 35-31

Salas' take: The G.O.A.T.
