ERWIN — Mrs. Mary Ann Kirby Dudley, 79, died Wednesday morning, May 5, 2021, at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. Mrs. Dudley was born Sept. 3, 1941 in Harrelson County, Georgia. Mrs. Dudley was preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn Billy Dudley; her mother, Ruth Nixon Kirby; and grandson, Luke Patterson Dudley.
Mrs. Dudley worked for over 30 years as a hairdresser and later in cosmetic and retail sales at Belk Department Store for 18 years. Mrs. Dudley loved her church, going out to eat, visiting friends and sending cards. She was a very loving person, always giving to others. She was an incredible mother and grandmother, but was known as “Granny” to not only her own grandchildren, but many other children as well. Mrs. Dudley loved her Lord and family.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, May 8, at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn, with the Revs. Wesley Hamilton and Buster West officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Dunn.
Mrs. Dudley is survived by her sons, Dr. Elwyn Billy Dudley Jr. and wife Annette, and Gary Thad Dudley and wife Candie; her father, Floyd Thomas Kirby; grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, John, Samuel, Joshua, Thad, Zach and Cayla; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Kirby and wife Diane; and sister, Freda Dickie and husband Mike.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
The family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to Antioch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 494 Antioch Church Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
