Atkins, Hodges secure top-10 finishes at TYGA event

GOLDSBORO — Midway's Logan Atkins and Caden Hodges each earned top-10 finishes during this past weekend's Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) PuttView Books Junior Championship at Lane Tree Country Club.

Atkins shot a 1-under-par 71 during Sunday's final round to draw a tie for eighth place overall. He also carded an opening-round 72 on Saturday for a two-day total of 143.

Hodges tied for 10th overall after shooting even-par 72 on both days of competition.

The event had two boys' flights (ages 13 to 15 and 16 to 18) and one girl flight. Atkins' score was good enough for sixth in the 16-18 flight, while Hodges took sole possession of eighth.

Both players helped Midway to a team state runner-up title in March, the program's second in three years. As a sophomore, Atkins, finished tied fourth with a 75, while Hodges finished just one shot behind with a 76 as a junior.
