To the editor:

Last week, I came across two roadside incidents where large yellow mowers turned several pieces of trash into thousands of pieces of roadside decoration for Easter Sunday.

This decorative effort by contractors, county, state or who even knows, goes on periodically in our little town.

My question is why contractors/county/DOT/state of North Carolina can’t be held accountable for this very blatant and obvious littering of our roadsides? Wonder what would happen if someone bush-hogged 10 or 12 bags of clothing in front of the governor’s office or the legislature’s building?

I have never seen places that are trashier than Sanford, Spring Lake, Cumberland counties. It looks horrible. Why is this tolerated? Start fining the folks that are throwing their trash out their car windows, It brings down the property value and looks like a $h*t Hole! How can people be such pigs?
